During O3DEcon 2022 in Austin, Texas, the Technical Art Birds of a Feather session will discuss the needs of art production team in games and other 3D verticals. We will seed the discussion by highlighting the impact of technical art processes and frameworks, which are needed for teams to thrive.

Arguably since humans started making art thousands of years ago, there has been a push and pull between the artistic and creative process, and the technology we've harnessed to advance the arts. Video games have been around for half a century, yet Technical Art has only been acknowledged and respected as a viable career choice within the last 20 years … and we are only getting started. As more industries embrace the awesome power of immersive 3D, they, like game developers, will naturally find the need for individuals that are capable of grasping a working understanding of multiple disciplines.

The new processes, tools, and workflows brought to life by Technical Artists are often key fundamental components of the constant change taking place in the field of game development and 3D. Let's explore the gaps in O3DE content pipelines and workflows that are holding back production teams.
